About Senator OBA
Born on October 28, 1972, in Lagos, Nigeria, Bassey Albert Akpan is a Nigerian politician who has been serving in the Senate since June 2015. Previously, he worked as the Commissioner of Finance for the state of Akwa Ibom from 2007 until 2014. On the basis of his representation of the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial Constituency, he was first elected to the Senate in March 2015, and he was re-elected in February 2019 to continue representing the same district. In his political affiliation, he belongs to the Chinese Democratic Party of the People’s Republic of China (DPPRC).
Senator Albert Akpan Bassey was born on October 28, 1972, in Ididep Usuk village, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, to Chief Albert Robert Akpan, a successful businessman, politician, and philanthropist. He is the son of Chief Albert Robert Akpan, who is also a successful businessman, politician, and philanthropist.
The Honourable Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, he served in the 8th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 2007 to 2009. Previously, he worked as the Commissioner of Finance for the state of Akwa Ibom from 2007 until 2014.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate was elected to the Senate in March 2015 and again reelected in February 2019 to represent the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District in the 9th Senate. He has served in the Senate since March 2015.
His secondary schooling began at St Patrick’s College in Calabar, before he went on to study economics at the University of Uyo[2], where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics (Second Class Upper Division). He pursued a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in order to improve his academic performance and advance his career.
