In order to address the needs of the oil and gas industry, the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) was established as a federal agency with the mission of developing indigenous human capacity and oil technology.

High-caliber applicants for Masters and Doctorate Scholarships at universities around the United Kingdom and Germany that are participating in the UK-Germany Strategic Partnership Initiative are now being accepted by the PTDF.

Therefore, it is vital that you submit your application as soon as possible because submissions submitted after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.

As a result, this page contains all of the information you need to apply for the PTDF Scholarship Program, including the levels of competition and, most importantly, the deadline for submission of scholarship applications.

Eligibility for PTDF Local Scholarships

PTDF scholarships are highly competitive and only candidates who are outstanding across the board are selected. A selection committee will be constituted to assess applications using the following criteria:

Academic merit as evidenced by the quality of degrees, full academic transcripts, other professional qualifications acquired, and relevant publications (where available) to be referenced by applicants
Awards for leadership and/or academic excellence (where available).
Membership of professional bodies
The viability of the study/research plan.
Applicants are required to make a case for their scholarship by submitting a statement of purpose (maximum 500 words) stating the reason(s) they want to undertake the study, the relevance of the proposed study to the oil & gas industry and its expected impact on national development.

PTDF Postgraduate Scholarships Requirements

A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience;
National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate;
Applicants must be computer literate;
Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language; (At least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO); and
Applicants must not be above 30 years of age.

Level/Field Of Study

For 2020, the scholarships will be restricted to select courses (available on the PTDF website)

Host Nationality

The study centers for the scholarship awards are universities in the United Kingdom, China, Germany, France, and the United States.

Eligibility Nationality

This scholarship is available to Nigerian students
