PTDF SCHOLARSHIP (OVERSEAS & LOCAL) – APPLY. The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a governmental organization tasked with building local human capacity and oil technology in order to satisfy the demands of the oil and gas sector.

PTDF is now accepting applications from highly qualified individuals for Masters and Doctorate Scholarships in universities across the United Kingdom and Germany that are part of the UK-Germany Strategic Partnership Initiative.

As a result, it is critical that you apply as soon as possible because applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

Eligibility & Requirments for PTDF Local Scholarships

PTDF scholarships are highly competitive and only candidates who are outstanding across the board are selected. A selection committee will be constituted to assess applications using the following criteria:

  • Academic merit as evidenced by the quality of degrees, full academic transcripts, other professional qualifications acquired, and relevant publications (where available) to be referenced by applicants
  • Awards for leadership and/or academic excellence (where available).
  • Membership of professional bodies
  • The viability of the study/research plan.
  • Applicants are required to make a case for their scholarship by submitting a statement of purpose (maximum 500 words) stating the reason(s) they want to undertake the study, the relevance of the proposed study to the oil & gas industry and its expected impact on national development.

PTDF Postgraduate Scholarships Requirements

  •  A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience;
  • National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate;
  • Applicants must be computer literate;
  • Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language; (At least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO); and
  • Applicants must not be above 30 years of age.

Level/Field Of Study

For 2020, the scholarships will be restricted to select courses (available on the PTDF website)

Host Nationality

The study centers for the scholarship awards are universities in the United Kingdom, China, Germany, France, and the United States.

PTDF Ph.D. Scholarships in 2021

  • An undergraduate degree in an oil and gas related discipline (minimum Second Class Upper (2.1) OR a 2.2 with oil and gas sector experience;
  • Certificate of participation in the National Youth Service (NYSC);
  • It is necessary for applicants to be computer savvy.
  • possession of a high school diploma or GED with a credit in English language (at least a C6 in WAEC/SSCE or a C4 or higher in NECO); and employment as an academic in a prominent Nigerian institution, where he or she will teach oil and gas-related subjects; and
  • minimum of 2.2 in their first degree and at least merit in their second-degree certificate in an oil and gas-related field;
  • You must submit a research proposal related to the oil and gas sector (no longer than 5 pages in length) that includes the following elements: topic description; introduction; objective; methodology pertinent to the industry; and manner of data collection.
  • Have a valid admission letter in your possession; and
  • You must not be older than 40 years old.
