aKoma Amplify Fellowship for Content Creators in Africa | 2022. Amplify II, the second cohort of aKoma’s Fellowship for Content Creators and Storytellers in Africa, is now accepting applications.

Fellows in Rwanda, Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana (added in 2017) receive a mix of online, face-to-face, and field training in written, visual, audio, and photography content creation from a carefully vetted group of subject matter experts in those subjects.

Each Fellow is obliged to write and submit a content post on aKoma once a week for the duration of the program. The country cohort will complete an assigned project as a group at the conclusion of each month.

Fellows meet remotely with a content subject matter expert (SME) once a week to learn about topics such as content production, narrative, media careers, team collaboration, and project management. Additional education and guest speakers are also provided by the aKoma team.

Scholarship Details

Eligibility

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible;

  • Applicants should reside or be available in one of these locations:
    • Accra, Ghana
    • Kigali, Rwanda
    • Nairobi, Kenya
    • Lagos, Nigeria
  • Applicants must commit to 8-10 hours every week to participate in Amplify activities. No exceptions will be made. Please do not apply if you can’t make this commitment
  • Be able to show samples of your work, and have a visible presence on social media that displays your work on the web

The scholarship is designed for African participants who wish to join the fellowship of Content Creators and Storytellers in Africa.
