Makerere University invites legible Students to apply for the positions of the Guild President and Guild Representative Council (GRC).
Nominations were opened from Wednesday 28thApril, 2021 and close on Friday 30thApril, 2021 at 12:00pm EAT.
According to the Guild Electoral Commission, the nomination process and campaigns shall be conducted electronically (online).
The commission further noted that the voting process shall be conducted both physical and online following the guidelines.
During this Period of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the has announced a fresh call for nomination of candidates for the positions of the Guild President and Guild Representative Council (GRC).
Students with disability will vote both physically and electronically. The choice of their preference shall be communicated to the Makerere University Students Guild electoral commission in reasonable time.
Physical voting shall be applicable to all registered students for 2019/2020 academic year who are legally on the Makerere University main campus on the day of and at the time of voting.
Electronic voting shall be for all registered students for 2019/2020 who are legally off Makerere University Main campus on the day of and at the time of voting.
The Makerere University Students Guild Electoral Commission shall announce electoral results both electronically and physically.
All campaigns shall be conducted virtually using Television, Radio and other media platforms.
The Makerere University Students Guild Electoral Commission shall prepare and have separate voters’ registers for the categories of students mentioned above in 2(b) and 2(c).
Eligibility to contest for all leadership positions shall be for only registered continuing students (2019/2020) in accordance with the Makerere University Students Guild Constitution (Elections) Regulations No. 1 Of 2018 (As Amended).
All registered students of Makerere University in Academic Year 2019/2020 shall be eligible to vote.
