Dr. Muhammad Musoke Kiggundu has been the acting Manager of Communication & International Relations of Makerere University but has decided to retire.
Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabus Nawangwe in January 2019 appointed Dr Kiggundu to the position for a one year renewable contract.
However, after the expiry of his one year contract, the former PR Manager has opted out to “to give an opportunity to others”.
Dr Kiggundu’s issued the statement below expressing his decision to leave the position
Dear Colleagues,
I served my term diligently and completed my contract.
I did not wish to extend the contract and I asked my Boss (the VC) to approve my departure and give room for others to serve in that position.
I thank the VC for having given me the opportunity to serve as the first, Manager of Communication & International Relations of Makerere University, the Great.
I want to thank the entire MAK staff for the support rendered to me for the time I have served as acting Manager.
I am so grateful to the members of the Press for the love and wisdom shared with me during that time.
The Students community have demonstrated great respect and maturity to their Institution and for that, I will always hold them in high regard.
The University Council, University Management, the Public and colleagues, thank you so much.
I thank the MUASA fraternity for the wonderful administrative training that made me suitable for the appointment.
I also thank the Government of Uganda for listening in whenever need arose.
I have enjoyed working with the International Community who always got excited with the wealth of International Languages that I speak.

I thank the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe for the opportunity and support rendered to me during my time of service.
I am happy to note that I came into office at a time when my expertise was most needed. Now I am leaving when calmness and Normalcy is fully restored. (The General is back to the barracks)
